Council President Pamela Renee for Mayor of Neptune City

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Council President Pamela Renee Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Neptune City

NEPTUNE CITY – Council President Pamela Renee is formally announcing her candidacy for Mayor of Neptune City. Elected in 2014 and re-elected as the top-vote-getter with overwhelming, bipartisan support in 2017, Renee will enter the 2019 Mayor’s campaign with a commitment of taking Neptune City towards the future.

“Neptune City’s natural gifts hold all the opportunity in the world. Our riverfront view, bike ride to the beach, and proximity to hospitals and transportation have all made our hometown one of the true treasures of the Jersey Shore. Most importantly, though, I’ve found that our town’s residents and sense of community, more than any physical attribute, make Neptune City a truly special place to live,” stated Renee.

“In Neptune City, we know that nothing is earned without hard work and that everyone deserves a shot as long as they play by the rules. We also know that we can’t do it alone. I’ve met countless volunteers who serve our small town, from our emergency services teams to our thriving community groups. But our town is at an inflection point. Our local politics have become bitter, and the path forward for Neptune City is unclear. The lives that we have worked so hard to build are at risk. That’s why I have decided to run for Mayor of Neptune City.” said Renee.

In addition to serving as Council President, Renee volunteers with the Knight of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary and the Shark River Cleanup Coalition. As a councilwoman, she has fought for taxpayers against unjustified tax increases, overdevelopment and partisan political bickering – often standing up against an administration which looked to raise taxes as its first option. Renee will challenge long-time politician and Mayor Bobby Brown.* “I appreciate Mayor Brown’s service to Neptune City but it is time for new leadership and change.** We need to move forward on economic development, lowering property taxes, improving our transportation and infrastructure and so much more. I look forward to having this debate with Mayor Brown all across Neptune City.”

*Following this press release, Mayor Brown announced that he would not be running for re-election. Councilperson Andrew Wardell is now running in his place.

**Councilperson Renee states, “I appreciate Councilperson Wardell’s service, but electing him as Mayor would mean 4 more years of the same stagnant and partisan leadership as we’ve had under Mayor Brown. I stand by my statement that it is time for new leadership and change.”
